Usually, the assumption is that the more senior your role, the more pay you will get. But there are some jobs that defy that. In some jobs, a junior actually earns more than the senior, and here are some of those jobs.
a) College Presidents.
As universities turn from being merely academic institutions to corporations, the need for fundraising has never been more urgent. That’s why one of the chief qualities of a university President is not just leading the university in scholarship and knowledge generation, but also in sourcing for donations. Harvard leads the pack of endowment funding of colleges in the world, with $50 billion dollars, and endowment managers now earn more than university Presidents. Even as endowment managers earn more than university Presidents, they are outsourcing more of the investment to outside wealth fund managers. College endowment chief executives are earning as much as $2 million dollars, while the yearly pay for a college President is about $1 million dollars, showing just how important finances are to colleges today.
b) Radio and TV Bosses.
When one thinks of radio and TV bosses, they oversee some first class talent. The truth is that these days, journalists are more of celebrities than they are journalists, and so most people watch not a TV network, but a particular personality and host. For instance, Tucker Carlson was fired from Fox News for being too much on a drain on the networks finances, but still managed to get an interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin on his own, although part of it was because Carlson had cast a sympathetic tone to Russia during his Presidency by calling Ukraine a Biden client state.
c) Sports Coaches And Players.
How many times have you heard of a sports team CEO? Rarely. But we all know the coach of Kansas Chiefs of course aided by the publicity of Travis Kelce dating rock star Taylor Swift in which her fans the “Swifties”, are now taking a keen interest in American football. Think of the European soccer teams such as Arsenal, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona or Bayern Munich their coaches earn seven figure salaries. And not just that, players such as Lionel Messi and Christiano Ronaldo also earn so much more than their coaches and CEOs.
